By downloading, installing, or using the Scoout app ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Scoout is a community safety and incident reporting platform that allows users to:

  • Report and view local incidents and safety alerts
  • Share live video streams of events
  • Access community-generated news and safety information
  • Receive location-based notifications about nearby incidents
  • Connect with other community members

3. User Accounts

To use certain features of the Service, you must create an account. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate and complete information
  • Maintain the security of your account credentials
  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access
  • Accept responsibility for all activities under your account

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.

4. User Content

You retain ownership of content you submit to the Service. By posting content, you grant Scoout a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, display, and distribute your content within the Service.

You agree not to post content that:

5. Live Streaming

When using live streaming features, you agree to:

  • Respect the privacy of individuals in your stream
  • Not stream content that could endanger public safety
  • Comply with local laws regarding recording and broadcasting

Scoout reserves the right to terminate any live stream that violates these terms.

6. Location Data

The Service uses location data to provide incident alerts and location-based features. By using the Service, you consent to the collection and use of your location data as described in our Privacy Policy.

You can disable location services at any time through your device settings.

7. Prohibited Activities

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any illegal purpose
  • Submit false reports or misleading information
  • Harass, bully, or intimidate other users
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service
  • Interfere with the proper functioning of the Service
  • Use automated tools to access the Service without permission
  • Impersonate another person or entity

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind. Scoout does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any content posted by users.

Scoout is not a replacement for emergency services. In case of emergency, always contact your local emergency number (911 or equivalent).

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Scoout shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Scoout is not responsible for actions taken by users based on information shared through the Service.

10. Account Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms of Service. You may delete your account at any time through the app settings. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms. We will notify users of significant changes.
